A few months might seem like plenty of time to get a new event off the ground but it really is not much time at all!
Working with Michelle Khan and Tony Stevenson I helped to shape up the comms and promotions aspects of this hugely successful weekend on the water in Jellicoe Harbour, Auckland.
160 boats were on display and more than ten thousand of people walked through the doors - and vitally, hundreds of thousands of social media impressions helped to make the event a huge success for the Auckland maritime and heritage communities.
The inaugural Auckland Wooden Boat Festival is part of Moana Auckland – New Zealand’s Ocean Festival. It is organised by members of the Tino Rawa Trust and the Classic Yacht Association with the support of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, the New Zealand Maritime Museum and Eke Panuku to tell the story of Auckland’s maritime history from the early days of settlement through to today.
